Job Description:
As the Category Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance of various categories and sub categories of products, study their dependence on pricing, promotions, visibility etc. and gathering insights. You will develop and implement strategies to drive sales, optimize product assortment, and enhance the overall profitability. This role requires a combination of analytical skills, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:
Determine the range of products to be offered, considering market trends, customer preferences, and company objectives.

Monitor inventory levels, ensure adequate stock levels to meet demand, and minimize overstock or stockouts.

Develop strategies to promote products, collaborate with marketing teams on advertising campaigns, and analyze sales data to identify opportunities for growth.

Set and manage budgets for the categories, track expenses, and analyze financial performance.

Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the assortment.

Work closely with other departments such as sales, marketing, and operations to align category strategies with overall business objectives.

 Monitor the lifecycle of products within the category, from introduction to obsolescence, and make recommendations for product changes or discontinuations.

Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, economics, or a related field is typically required.Candidates with a master's degree or MBA might be preferred.

Skills required:
Previous experience in retail, merchandising, or product management is often required. Experience specifically in category management is highly valued.
Strong analytical skills are essential for interpreting sales data, market trends, and financial metrics to make informed decisions.
Excellent communication skills are necessary for building relationships with suppliers, collaborating with internal teams, and presenting strategies and recommendations.
A strategic mindset is important for developing long-term plans and initiatives to drive growth within the category.
Given the need for managing inventory, budgets, and contracts, attention to detail is crucial to avoid errors and optimize performance.
